The Government of India (GOI) is the central governing authority of the Republic of India, responsible for managing the country’s administrative, legislative, executive, and judicial functions. Established under the Constitution of India, the GOI operates through three main branches: the Executive, headed by the President of India; the Legislature, comprising the Parliament (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha); and the Judiciary, led by the Supreme Court of India. The Prime Minister is the head of the government and plays a key role in policymaking and administration.
The Government of India oversees a wide range of responsibilities, including national defense, foreign affairs, finance, law and order, education, health, infrastructure development, and economic planning. It functions through various ministries, departments, commissions, and public sector undertakings. Guided by democratic principles, the GOI aims to ensure good governance, public welfare, and inclusive development for all citizens of the country.
