FLAG CODE OF INDIA
The Flag Code of India is a set of guidelines that governs the display and use of the Indian National Flag with respect and dignity. It was officially brought into effect on January 26, 2002, to unify all previous laws, conventions, and practices related to the national flag. The code outlines the correct way to hoist the flag, occasions on which it can be displayed, and the rules for its handling, storage, and disposal. It ensures that the tricolor is treated as a symbol of national pride and is not disrespected in any way. The code permits the general public, private organizations, and educational institutions to hoist the national flag on any day, provided they follow the code’s provisions. With the launch of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and amendments allowing the use of polyester and machine-made flags, the code continues to evolve while upholding the honor of the Indian Flag.
